Protein Domain : Lytic switch protein BZLF1, human herpesvirus 4 IPR017339

Type  Family
Description  This family represents thelytic switch protein BZLF1 from Epstein-Barr virus (strain GD1) (HHV-4) (Human herpesvirus 4). It is a transcription factor that acts as a molecular switch to induce the transition from the latent to the lytic or productive phase of the virus cycle of infection in cells containing a highly methylated viral genome [ , ]. It probably binds to silenced chromatin and recruits host chromatin-remodeling enzymes [].
