Protein Domain : DNA single-strand annealing protein RecT IPR004590

Type  Family
Description  All proteins in this family for which functions are known bind single-stranded DNA and are involved in the the pairing of homologous DNA. RecT from Escherichia coli is a homotetramer which binds to single-stranded DNA and promotes the renaturation of complementary single-stranded DNA, and also plays a role in recombination. It is able to promote the annealing of complementary single DNA strands and can catalyze the formation of joint molecules [].
