Description  There is currently no experimental data for members of this group. However, they are distantly related to the beta subunits of protein prenyltransferases--protein farnesyltransferase (FTase) and protein geranylgeranyl transferase type II (GGTase-II). Protein prenyltransferases catalyse the posttranslational modification of cysteines by isoprenoid hydrocarbon chains [ ]. The binding sites for both peptide and isoprenoid substrates reside primarily on the beta subunit of these enzymes [].
