Protein Domain : Extracellular mutant protein 11, C-terminal IPR029178

Type  Domain
Description  This entry represents the C-terminal domain of Ecm11 (extracellular mutant protein 11). Ecm11 is a family of largely fungal proteins. Ecm11 is a component of the synaptonemal complex (SC), which is a protein structure that forms between homologous chromosomes during meiosis [ ]. It is required for efficient meiotic crossover and for the efficient assembly of the transverse filament protein, Zip1. Ecm11 is SUMOylated during meiosis. The SUMOylation of Ecm11 almost completely requires Gmc2 (another SC subunit), and is also dependent, to a lesser extent, on Zip1, Zip2, Zip4 and Spo16 [].
