Protein Domain : Co-chaperone DjlA, N-terminal IPR007791

Type  Domain
Description  This entry represents the N-terminal of the DjlA protein. This domain can also be found in the tellurium resistance protein TerB. DjlA is a inner membrane protein which belongs to the DnaJ co-chaperone family. Direct interaction between DnaK and DjlA is needed for the induction of the wcaABCDE operon which is involved in the synthesis of a colanic acid polysaccharide capsule. The colanic acid capsule may help the bacterium survive conditions outside the host [ , ].DjlA contains the highly conserved J-domain which characterises the DnaJ/Hsp40 family and is essential for interaction with DnaK. The J-domain of DjlA is located at the C terminus of the protein, and at its N terminus is a transmembrane (TM) domain that promotes its insertion into the membrane. The A-domain separates the TM domain from the J-domain [ ].
