| Description | Molybdenum storage protein subunits alpha and beta (MosA/MosB) are involved in intracellular storage of molybdenum. Each protein molecule can store at least 90 Mo atoms. The Mo storage protein from the nitrogen-fixing bacterium, Azotobacter vinelandii, is characterized as an alpha4-beta4 octamer containing a polynuclear molybdenum-oxide cluster which is ATP-dependent to bind Mo and pH-dependent to release Mo [ ]. MosA and MosB are related to uridine monophosphate kinase (UMPK) enzymes. |
