Protein Domain : Glutaredoxin domain-containing cysteine-rich protein 1 IPR042797

Type  Family
Description  Glutaredoxin domain-containing cysteine-rich protein 1 (GRXCR1) contains a region of similarity to glutaredoxin proteins and a cysteine-rich region at its C terminus. It may be involved in regulation of actin filament architecture in hair cell stereocilia []. Mutations of the GRXCR1 gene cause deafness, autosomal recessive, 25 (DFNB25) [].This entry also includes the orthologues from Drosophila CG31559 and CG12206 which are predicted to enable protein-disulfide reductase activity. CG31559 is possibly expressed in embryonic/larval system and CG12206 is expressed in embryonic/larval posterior spiracle, epithelium, and larval foregut atrium.
