Protein Domain : PDZ domain-containing protein 8 IPR039275

Type  Family
Description  PDZ domain-containing protein 8 (PDZD8) is a molecular tether, connecting endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria membranes. This tethering is required for transfer of Ca 2+ions between the ER and mitochondrion, which is particularly important in neurones [ ]. PDZD8 is a membrane protein containing a single transmembrane region and contains SMP-LTD (synaptotagmin-like mitochondrial-lipid binding protein) [] and PDZ domains and a phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc finger. Homologues are found in metazoa.
