Description	This entry represents a protein family that includes the transcription factors Forkhead box protein N2-4 from humans (FOXN2-4) and related proteins from animals [ , ]. Putative forkhead-related transcription factor fkh-5 from Caenorhabditis elegans, an orthologue of human FOXN4, is also included in this entry. FOXN4 is a transcription factor essential for neural and some non-neural tissues development, such as retina and lung respectively. It binds to a consensus sequence containing the invariant tetranucleotide 5'-ACGC-3'.
