| Description | This family includes F-box only protein 7 from humans (Fbxo7) and similar animal proteins. Fbxo7 is the substrate recognition component of a SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. It plays a role in the clearance of damaged mitochondria via selective autophagy (mitophagy). Mutations in this protein lead to Parkinson's disease [ , , , ]. |
