Protein Domain : Beta-microseminoprotein IPR008735

Type  Family
Description  This family consists of the protein beta-microseminoprotein/prostate-associated microseminoprotein from humans and some small serum protein from snakes. Prostatic secretory protein of 94 amino acids (PSP94), also called beta-microseminoprotein, is a small, nonglycosylated protein, rich in cysteine residues. It was first isolated as a major protein from Homo sapiens seminal plasma [ ]. The exact function of this protein is unknown. The small serum proteins may serve as a self-defense protein against the toxic effects of the snake venom during accidental envenomation.
