| Description | This entry contains cuticle proteins with a CX(5)C motif, although some members have a CX(7)C motif. In Anopheles gambiae, mRNA for this protein is most abundant immediately following ecdysis in larvae, pupae and adults, and is localised primarily in epidermis that secretes hard cuticle, sclerites, setae, head capsules, appendages and spermatheca. EM immunolocalisation studies have shown that the protein is present in the endocuticle of legs and antennae. CPCFC is found throughout the Hexapoda and in several classes of Crustacea [ ]. |
